Sounds settle in a softly humming carpet, faded resonances captured and transformed by their journey into the church. Each tone is sifted as it flows in from the street. It doubles: a trace of both its origins and its transit. If the sandstone blocks cut high silent lines towards the ceiling, each tremor passing through them from outside reveals a secret: the sound of the stone itself.

By using a combination of field recordings made in the surrounding areas of Paris and digital processing techniques, Clara Iannotta and Chris Swithinbank examine and highlight this acoustic experience of Saint-Eustache as a place of passage. The city passes through and is filtered by the church and in turn we get to hear the church as if played by the city.
